Landscape and Forest Pests

Invasive species can have a dramatic impact on the species they attack, as there are often few natural controls to their spread.

We have compiled information on identification, spread, and reporting for a series of invasive diseases and insects that affect tree species in NYS landscapes and forests.

Forest Pest Handbook: basic information on disease and insect pests of forest trees.

Additional resources for each pest are included.  These fact sheets are meant as an introduction to the species.

Some of the species described have been in the state for many years, while others are still potential threats.  We have attempted to be as up to date as possible in the information provided, but things can change rapidly.  Please note the date on each pest fact sheet.  If you have additional or updated information, please contact Elizabeth Lamb at eml38@cornell.edu.
