Carl Bannon

Carl Bannon currently serves as the area extension educator for field crops in Cortland, Chemung, Tompkins, Tioga, and Schuyler (CCTTS) Counties in the southern tier of New York. Carl actively and creatively promotes IPM concepts and applications and inspires his clientele to understand and employ them.

Carl's IPM and Integrated Crop Management (ICM) accomplishments and extension efforts include:

  • initiating IPM/ICM pilot program activities in Onondaga and Madison Counties
  • expanding ICM activities in CCTTS Counties
  • initiating an IPM TAg (Tactical Agriculture) Team effort in CCTTS Counties
  • acting as a key facilitator in the creation of the grower-owned and -managed Central New York Crop and Management Association
  • providing a critical and effective CCE link between local SWCD and water quality protection efforts such as the ASCS/FSA SP-53 program, for transfer and integration of livestock and field crops IPM and other Cornell College of Agriculture and Life Sciences information
  • being a recognized innovator and active contributor to New York State sustainable agriculture activities
  • cooperating and collaborating in many Cornell pest and crop management research and demonstration projects
