Harvey Reissig is a Cornell University professor of entomology who has helped to guide the statewide IPM program by serving on the IPM Operating Committee, which is responsible for establishing policy and setting future directions for the New York State IPM Program. He also serves as the chair of the IPM Fruit Committee, which develops the priorities for research and extension work in fruit crops. Both of these assignments are very demanding because the IPM Program relies upon teamwork among six different disciplines across nine departments, as well as equal partnerships with producers and extension field staff. Harvey has been able to balance all of these interests in a skillful manner, especially when it comes time to set priorities and distribute funding. Perhaps most importantly, Harvey has consistently carried out a research effort to develop new methods for IPM in apples.
