For 4/23/02:Note: Any Eastern New York Field Crop Extension Educator that wants to contribute their pest scouting activities to the Eastern New York Field Crops Pest Report you are more than welcome. AlfalfaAlfalfa Weevil: Today I found very small alfalfa weevil larvae
(1/16 1/8 inch long) in a few alfalfa fields at the SUNY Cobleskill
Farm. Alfalfa weevil larvae are light green with a white stripe down
their back and a dark brown head. Tip feeding by larvae was about 5
% or less in all fields scouted. GrassArmyworm: Lisa Fields and I placed a few true armyworm pheromone traps on two farms in Schoharie County this week. They were placed in grass fields where there were high populations of armyworm last season. Field CornPlanting: Fields are being prepared for planting. Have a good week! |
